שום דבר לא באמת מחבר בין גוסטבו וגיא למעט שם המשפחה שנשמע באוזן דומה אך נכתב שונה. הם בערך בני אותו גיל (גוסטבו קצת יותר צעיר), הם בני אותו מזל (גדי), הם גרים בישראל (גוסטבו בירושלים וגיא בתל אביב), הם קצת שמעו אחד על השני אבל לפני התערוכה הזאת הם לא נפגשו או הציגו יחד. אפשר לצין דבר אחד משמעותי—הם אוהבים את הקראפט שלהם והם טובים בו. 

 

גוסטבו הוא צלם שמספר סיפורים. כל תמונה שלו היא שבריר מטיול שאותו הוא ישמח לפרוס לפניכם אם יש לכם זמן. הסיפורים טבולים בהומור ורוח שטות ארגנטינית אבל איכשהו השטות הופכת רצינית והטיפשות מתקרבת לקדושה. 

 

גיא הוא בעיקר פסל שנהנה לחמוד את החומר, ללטש אותו עד שפני השטח בולעים את המבט והעין מתענגת במגע רך. לפעמים האוביקטים המגודלים נראים כטוטמים עם היבטים גבריים ונשיים, לפעמים חייזרים ולפעמים הם פשוט צומחים כמו יער של יצורים, צורות מתבוננות וצבעים בעלי כוחות מיוחדים.

 

התערוכה המשותפת של הז.סגורסקיס היא סוג של נונסנס. אין לה נושא או משמעות מיוחדת, למרות שלא ברור האם אנחנו מסוגלים בכלל לעמוד מול חוסר משמעות בלי להמציא משהו. בכל אופן, נונסנס זה לא דבר פשוט. נונסנס מייצר הקשרים מפתיעים והצורך בו גובר ברגעים שהתרבות מעיקה, ברגעים של קיבעון מחשבתי, של אין מוצא. איש אחד שם רגל על הקיר. ראה שזה נחמד. שם את השנייה. ונפל.

Nothing really connects Gustavo and Guy except for their last name which sounds similar but is spelled differently. They are about the same age (Gustavo is a little younger), they bare the same astrological sign (Capricorn), both are based in Israel (Gustavo in Jerusalem and Guy in Tel Aviv), they had heard a little about each other but before this exhibition they had not met or exhibited together. Perhaps one other, more essential similarity can be noted - they love their craft very much and they are good at it.

 

Gustavo is a photographer who tells stories. Each of his photos is a fragment of a trip that he will be happy to spread before you if you have time. The stories are steeped in humor and the spirit of Argentinian nonsense, but somehow the nonsense turns serious and the everydayness approaches holiness.

 

Guy is primarily a sculptor who enjoys handling the material, polishing it until the surface is shiny, engulfing the eye in a soft light touch. The overgrown objects may look like totems with male and female aspects or like intelligent aliens. They seem to emerge like a forest of creatures observing the world with a childlike surprising interest. 

 

The joint exhibition of The S/Zago.urskys is a kind of nonsense. Their connection has no special meaning or underlaying concept, although it is not clear whether we are even able to face meaninglessness without inventing something. Anyway, nonsense is not a simple thing. Nonsense creates its own unexpected connections and the need for it increases in moments of mental fixation when our environment is oppressive. One man puts his foot on the wall. Sees it's nice. Puts the other one. And falls.
